What others can be installed on a Mac besides Navigator and Safari? I cannot get my Mac to play streaming TV shows through either of those browsers - both of them always freeze the browser. They'll open a play for a few minutes and then freeze the program. Will Firefox work well?

Thanks, that's what I use on my PC - I hate Macs (sorry) but am using one right now.
Firefox or Google's Chrome

I currently run Google's Chrome. I've was switching between Safari & Firefox. Tried Opera in between. Firefox updates whenever it wants and freezes my window manager. Safari is not supported for everything (e.g. streaming video). Giving Chrome a try...
"They say with time it gets better. Not true. With time you only get used to it."
You realize you can change that setting, right? Preferences > Advanced > Update.
Also, make sure you're not using the beta version of Firefox. It was pretty buggy for me and I went back to the last stable (non-beta) version and it's been fine.
As for Safari not supporting everything, the only thing it wouldn't support out of the box would be streaming Windows media. Luckily, with a little googling you can find plug-ins that allow more media types to work with your browser/Quicktime. It's called Flip4Mac.
