suggestion needed for gift
I am not much of a drinker other than beer. Could anyone recoomend a scotch. I would like to get something nice, but I don't want to break the bank. I am hoping to spend around 20-30 bucks.
TIA
Re: suggestion needed for gift
Unfortunately, a lot of the nice scotches are going to be out of your price range - they can get really expensive.
DH's favorite "cheap" scotch is Johnny Walker Black. I got him a bottle for our wedding day, and get him a bottle every year for Channukah. You may be able to find a small bottle of that in your price range - I get DH a liter and it's closer to $50.
Also keep your eye open for Macallan because they have some scotches that are close enough to your price range where if they were on sale you might be okay.
Things to keep in mind about scotches - in general, the older the better (if you have to choose between 8, 10, 12, and 15 yr old scotch) and if you have a hard time pronouncing the name because there are random g's and u's thrown in, it's probably a good scotch.
Funny, I was just asking all my friends this earlier in the week.
Do you know what kind of scotches your DH likes? Mine likes Johnny Walker Gold and Glenfiddich (sp?). Several people told me to do a Macallen 12 year. It was $45, so slightly higher than your budget. But maybe a scotch guy at a super-booze store can help? I went to Binny's and the guy talked to me for 20 minutes before I finally chose.

Thanks ladies. I will have to check out the liquior store. But I will take these suggestions with me.
My dh does not drink, so he was of no help.
