Latest update on Alex

Alex is driving back from Houston. Sadly the news was not good. He has a new tumor
in the liver and his heart tumor is much more vascular now. Meaning, his last chemo
was worthless and actually gave the tumors time to regroup. He is going on
ifosfamide, which is part of the cocktail he took the first time around. Hopefully
it will work, but he will likely be very sick. Because he will be so sick, they are
letting him wait until after Christmas to start so he can enjoy this Christmas with
all our family. He will start right after. They anticipate surgery at some point
next year on the liver, but they can't even discuss it until they get the cancer
back under control. Liver and heart transplants are out, so he is just going to do
every chemo that might work. They are going to work on getting insurance approval
for an oral chemo to be used after this round. Apparently it is not approved for
many cancers, so he has an uphill battle with insurance to approve it.
Please keep him and the family in your thoughts/prayers. They told him to go home and die
in 2001 and he has made it this far fighting. If you haven't a clue what I'm talking about,
here's a link to his story that Life in Motion Photography did for us:
