inexpensive fun in NH w/ kids?

I have a 9 year old and a one yr old, & over summer vacation its been difficult to find things to do w/ both.  We hit the library, local lakes, etc, but I am out of ideas.  We really like to take walks/hikes, but its hard to find places that accomodate the stoller.  I have a  front carrier, but is he too big for that?  We've NEVER used it!  We love the outdoors, and trying new things.  We live in Derry, and am open to any suggestions!  Tomorrow we are going to Charmingfare Farm.  Is that a fun place?  Okay, I'm babbling now, sorry ;) TIA!

  • gosh I am drawing a blank!  everytime i think of something I forget that a 1 yr old really couldn't do it haha...and you would think I would know if Charmingfare was fun, I great up in Candia haha, only been there for fall stuff/hayrides...I think they have a petting zoo and all kinds of stuff now though.  have fun!
  • Charmingfare is supposed to be great. We're hoping to take Alex sometime next month.

I wish I had more suggestions. Not growing up around here makes it a little harder for me!

  • If you are willing to drive to Nashua, you could spend the day at Greeley Park. Sometimes they have concerts there.  Or go to Nashua High school (South) and park the car and take a walk through Mines Falls.  Bring a loaf of bread to feed the fish along the way.  Some of the carp in the river are huge and the kids might get a kick out of feeding them.

Does your local library do a story hour type thing for kids.  That might be something worth going to.

    90 books in 2015?

  • What about Griffin Park in Windham?  They have a fantastic fenced in playground, ball parks, tennis courts, basketball courts, skateboarding park, covered place to eat lunch, and a huge walking path.  Next door, there is a little stand that sells ice cream and they have animals to look at.  It's one of the best "free" things around.
  • They just opened up the New Hampshire Children's Museum in Dover! $7 pp, I heard it's GREAT!
