We tend to wait until the last minute but I am stumped about what to get my 20 year college student brother and my father...i have been scoring websites and shopping but i am stumped! my brother loves music and his computer and he is in school so I wanted to get him something electronic any ideas? my father loves sports, fishing, harley davidsons and gardening...haha any ideas....i am hitting a mental road block on both :( TIA

Re: frustrated about what to get ppl!

  • For your brother - I'm assuming he already has an mp3 player - but is there some accessory for that you could get?  Or something that converts tapes or records into mp3s?

For your dad - waht about tickets to a sporting event, an electronic fishing game (for the winter months), or some gardening tools?

  • My brother is 20 and I have NO idea what to get him either. It's such a strange age, and he still lives at home so he saves all his money and buys everything that he wants.

Does he drive a car? Last year I got my bro some cool car accessories, like seat covers and a steering wheel cover. Also, one year for his bday I got him some underlights for his car.

As for my parents, they are still together so I got them a joint gift. I got them some 800 thread count sheets, because I just got my first set and LOVE them. It's actually a pretty good gift.

    Good luck!!

  • For your brother what about a gift card to iTunes so he can download his own music and put it on his mp3 or iPod?

  • For dad, a gift certificate to Harley Davidson.

I have the joy of finding something for a 25 year old whose only interest in life is Star Wars. (She goes to Star Wars conventions dressed as a Storm Trooper) DH's grnadmother, who dislikes anything "new" she receives for all sorts of reasons and the stuff will never see the light of day again.

Oh, and for extra fun........trying getting something for NUN!!!!!!!!

So, I really feel your pain.

my dad is tough a garden tool is a good idea he has a huge garden so I will look into that! Thanks!

  • 20 year old college student brother = cash, Best Buy gift card, etc.  At that age, I wanted cash or gift cards & the opportunity to pick out my own stuff.  And cash was helpful because I was a broke college student. :-)

Dad - a subscription to Field & Stream?  I did that for my dad a few years ago and he loved it.  Find out if he is low on any particular lures/supplies that you could re-stock him on before fishing season comes around?   This year, I started out thinking inside the box of his interests (hunting, fishing, etc.) but then remembered he lovvves Mike Huckabee so I got him MH's autobiography.  So maybe, think outside the box and something will come to mind?

  • For your brother - an iTunes gc or a gc to amazon.com.

For your dad, a new tackle box

I've got more issues than a magazine
  • Your brother - gc to Best Buy, Itunes, a subscription to Rhapsody.com or emusic.com for a year.

Dad - cg to h-d.com/giftcard, Bass Pro Shop, or any of the Big Ticket cable/dish sports packages.

This is a good idea as well. I saw some at Brookstone.

    (sorry mac, no clicky link)

  • For your brother, maybe a subscription to either Gamefly or Netflix?
  • My dad loves to garden and he is always finding neat "trinkets" to put in the garden.  What about a HD themed stepping stone or rock?  Or one with a favorite team.

Definately agree with the ideas for your bro and great ideas for your dad, as well!
