Ideas for a romantic weekend?

Things have been really stressful for DH & I lately, and we'd like to get away this weekend. We don't have a whole lot of money, and we definitely don't want to spend alot of time driving (I'd say no more than 4 hrs, but I'd be willing to extend that a bit if the place is really worth it).

Any ideas? TIA!

Re: Ideas for a romantic weekend?

  • We like to go up to the wineries at Geneva on the Lake.  There is a lodge there with a rate right now for $89/night that includes free breakfast.  There are probably 10 - 15 local wineries you can visit when you're up there that are really cute.  The lodge also has some hot tub rooms for a little more.  The hotel has a pool and hot tub that is surrounded by glass with views of the lake.  Plus it is only 1 hour from Cleveland.
  • this is a local idea, but i've always thought it would be super-romantic to stay down in Little Italy...The Baricelli Inn looks fabulous and you'd be saving money not driving anywhere.  you'd be close to University Circle, and the Cedar/Fairmont neighborhood would be right up the hill.  Nighttown can be a romantic date place; i've heard some great live music there, the food is good and the atmosphere is swanky.  there's also a wine bar right across the street.
