New to the Nesties

Hello,

I am new to the Nesties.  I got married on Halloween and am looking to connect with other married women in Chicago.  Most of my friends are single and would love to have some married friends in the area.  I see some postings for events "GTG".... What are these and how do you get involved?  Unfortunately I don't have my own car to travel to the suburbs.

Hi Celia, 

 Welcome and congrats! I think a lot of us are in the same boat with having friends in different life situations. GTGs are get-togethers. To get involved, just respond/rsvp on the thread and show up at the agreed location/time. There's a suburban one being organized now, but we just had a city one last week (in Wicker Park). It was fun and I'm sure there will be more!

 

I'm also organizing a book club. The first meeting will be held sometime at the end of January. The book is Molokai by Alan Brennert if you're interested.

Where is the book club being held?  Is it in the city?  I might be interested in joining, though I have been trying to join another with my single friends.  How strict are you on attendees finishing the book?

The location hasn't been finalized yet. It will be in the city, probably somewhere on the north side. It is our first meeting, so there isn't a precedent, but we want everyone who comes to have finished the book.

If you can't make it to the first, you could always come to the second.

I felt the same way about friends in different places - come to the next GTG - we just had drinks and chatted - can't go wrong with that!!!
