*happy dance* I MAY have just secured enough cash for 15 more young hoodlums
to get to be involved in an academic competition.
I'm not a sucker for a sob story--I work w/ to many sob-stories. But when a teacher comes and tells me that he can only fund for 1/2 of the interested kids in the ghetto (near where I work) to do something GOOD for them and academic and scienc-y....I am a sucker for that sob story.
So boss gave me the OK to raid some 'leftover' grant $. I'm waiting for an e-mail from a state-level person. Then I'm going to run w/ it.
I just told the teacher about it...he's of course, going to be making the same lousy stipend for dealing w/ 2x as many kids as before but he's thrilled :-) [and he knows no promises. But I"m trying]

in true 'no good deed goes unpunished' form, I've easiily created 14 hours worth of paperwork to do before christmas :-P
But I love it when these things WORK.
