One Thing Wednesday

1. After 11 months of training, my left knee has given up on me and I can't run the Disney Marathon in January. I'm in physical therapy and on anti-inflammatories to try to get to the point where I can walk it, since we registered and bought plane tickets months ago and my brother and Jen are still going to run it. I feel childish saying this but I'm terribly sad, and just trying to be a big girl and remind myself of how great my life is and that there are much, much worse things in the world than not being able to run right now.

Re: One Thing Wednesday

  • I am so sorry. How disappointing and painful! You are not childish at all, you worked very hard  and to have it turn out like this is very sad.

I hope your knee heals well enough for you to able to walk it and train again soon. ((HUGS))

  • I'm sorry that this happened to you right now. Take care of yourself and I hope you can walk it and enjoy the experience even if it wasn't your original plan.

Ditto.  It's bummer you can't run it, and you have every right to be sad.  But perhaps you can find some fun in either walking or acting as cheerleader for your brother and Jen.

  • Sorry to hear this. I hope you heal up soon. And at least you get to enjoy some nice weather and get away on a mini vacay escape.

  • I totally understand why you would be sad. I can't imagine all the work that goes into that kind of training. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  • Thanks everyone :) You guys are so sweet.

I'm feeling more cheerful today now that my prescription drugs have kicked in and my knee doesn't hurt for the first time in three weeks. Whew!

  • I am sorry - I know you have been working so hard! I admire all of that work and dedication you have put into your running.

On the good note - Disney in January is PERFECT. It is my favorite time to go.  We went marathon weekend several years ago (not to run!) and had such an awesome time in the parks and the weather was great.  Enjoy it. :)

And take care of that knee of yours!
