i forgot that there's only one more week until Christmas.
Crap. I only have gifts for DH's neices, and that's because I bought them in October.
I still don't know what to get DH, and I am not looking forward to the mall this weekend. I may just go late Sunday because he works at night.
You'd think that by now, I'd know to expect the holiday around this time.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
the tree isn't even up. we were supposed to put it up two weeks ago, and then last week...not sure if it's going to happen. i bought a "2009" ornament, which i may just hang on the wall and pile gifts beneath it.
i would like to have a no-gift holiday, because the gift giving part is so stressful. i just want to eat and hang out with my family (the ILs) and my husband. that's all i care about.
We just had that. It was called Thanksgiving. YWIA!!!
lol seriously though, Mom and I were very, "Can you just lay off on gifts? Oh? You want to too? Hah! That's funny..."
If history tells me anything Dad will call me Christmas eve to ask me what I want, and I'll hem and haw because I hate that he spends money on us when he's so far in the hole, but he gets butthurt if you tell him so.
FI and I are treating each other to a mini vacation in 2010, which I'm greatly looking forward to. Everybody else is getting extremely uncreative gifts.
I would LOVE this, at least between DH and I. His family has always been huge into giving tons of gifts per person. My family you give one or two gifts to each person and then my parents give us kids a few each. I'm tired of opening 9-11 gifts from MIL every year. And I know I sound selfish, but just because Kohl's had a sale on bed slippers, doesn't mean you have to buy everyone a pair.
DH says he doesn't care if he gives me more than I give him, but I still feel pressured to come up with at least 4 gifts every year.

I hear ya on shopping for DH. I honestly have no idea what to get him, so I'll probably just get him a card and some BCBC. He always says he doesn't want anything, so I guess this year that's what he's getting.
And I, too, am lacking the holiday spirit. It's just weird this year, with him being gone, the move, my parents' problems, etc. My family is doing the no-gift thing this year and I hope we can have a good time without delving into Depressingland. Little Sis' birthday is the 23rd, and I really want her to have a happy 18th.
It just doesn't feel like Christmas time to me. I can't pinpoint why, but the fact that it's only a week away is mind-bottling.
But I have to say, I'm not in the same boat as most of you as far as giving gifts - I don't find it stressful at all, and had a great time making and picking out gifts for people this year.
H and went farking shopping last weekend and added up all the farking money we spent. Probably around $500 a person. So together we spent$1000 on people. ONE THOUSAND FARKING AMERICAN DOLLARS.
I'm moving to the mountains and starting a blog about living on $40 a month.
