Just have to vent!

Ok.  Sorry most of you ladies know about all the crap I have gone through with my rental company.  I will give you a brief summary.  5 months ago they asked me to renew my lease for 1099.00 a month.  We are in the process of buying a house and I told them no, I need to go month to month.  A week later received a letter with a rent raise to 1199.00.  I called her because they were renting my same house for 850.00 down the street.  She agreed not to raise my rent.  2 1/2 weeks ago I get a letter in the mail of back owed rent of 400.00 (even though they had been sending receipts saying I was paid in full each month) stating that I had not been paying my new rental rate and it was due immediately.  I have now left 3 messages and 2 e-mails for this woman and have yet to hear back from her.  SO, this morning my friend e-mails me.  LOOK they have your house up for rent......FOR $950 a month!!!  THOSE SOB's!  Oh yes I left out the part were 2 weeks ago unless I sign a new lease I have to move out.  OMG I am SO SO MAD.  Our new house has not even entered closing yet, we are still fine tuning the final offer with the bank (short sale, it has been 10 1/2 months total waiting).  SO NOW WHAT!  We are not ready to move, and they want 250.00 more from us a month then they want to charge other people!  I have lived there over 2 1/2 years. SSSSOOOOO MAD!

  • That sucks and your landlord sounds like a PitA! Why wouldn't she just lend you a hand, you've been renting from her for quite awhile it seems! Not to mention, I can't imagine there are tons of people lined up to move in the middle of winter/around the holidays.

    Good luck!

  • I wish I had an answer for you, but it totally depends on your landlords. Do they live in proximity to your house that you could go knock on their door?
  • I agree!  There is plenty of snow on the ground here right now.

They are a rental company.  It is Re/Max Realestate but they have a rental portion too.

  • Do they have a corporate office?
  • I contacted an attorney.  He said as long as I have those statements that show paid in full that they can not do anything to me.  And if they do I have legal recourse.  So I have all of the statements.  He says that I should still move out on the 30th day though.  I am venturing all avenues to see what I can do.
