My family needs photography lessons for Christmas.

I know taking good pictures is a talent and doesn't come naturally. I have taken a bajillion pictures of Abby with only hundreds that are decent. You know what I do with the ones where she is blurry to the point of looking scary? I delete them. I thought everyone did. I took 200 shots of her for Christmas last year and kept 5.

It's frustrating because the two people who take the most pictures and have the nicest cameras apparently have no idea how to use them =( I totally appreciate it when my parents or SIL takes the time to burn their pictures to CD and send them to me. I really do. But if there are only 4 good pictures on it - what a waste of resources CD + Postage! Email those to me. Don't give me 150 out of focus shots of nobody looking at the camera or really doing anything. How can 150 out of 180 shots be blurry with an SLR? Seriously. Half these pictures I'm going through look like they were taken with a camera phone. I don't get it.

Is there a polite way to help them increase their skills or teach them to use their camera?

  • I wonder if there are any classes at the community college or rec center?  that might be a good christmas/birthday present for your relatives!

  • Yeah tell them to keep it on AUTOMATIC. With the automatic setting pics usually come out pretty good. There's a video ...dvd .I think it's called magic something .....maybe a stocking stuffer. They have them out for all different kinds of cameras.

here it is...I think they make them for different cameras like canon, not just nikon.
