Fun post #1: most embarrassing moment
Hey girls!
So here is the daily post I promised. First I wanted to answer the questions from the previous post. I've been in LA for a long time actually - 12 years.
And Philly - represent! here on this board! That's cool that so many of us are from Philly. I grew up in the Olney section of philly, and moved to the suburbs in junior high - my parents still live there, in Huntingdon Valley. I went to Abington High.
So the question is, what is your most embarrassing (or one of your most embarassing moments you've experienced?
Re: Fun post #1: most embarrassing moment
Well, Jen, funny you should ask. I just got back in touch with this guy recently on fb.
My most embarassing moment is when I was hanging out with a guy I really liked one summer during college. We were just hanging out as friends, but I really liked him. We went to Bryn Athyn Cathedral, this weird but beautiful cathedral near Philly, and were walking its grounds. There's this huge hill behind the cathedral, and I wanted to act all carefree and fun-like, so I said, "let's run down this hill!" - a la glorying in the beauty of nature, sort of like the Sound of Music beginning.
I started running down the hill, and he did not follow. The hill was a lot steeper than I anticipated, and all of the sudden I'm going too fast, and then, splat, I was flat on the ground. It was standing up to flat on the ground in less than 1 second. I was wearing a short flouncy skirt too. I hear him saying from the top of the hill, "are you okay?," in that "OMG, she just did something humiliating and I'm sort of mortified." tone of voice.
I was so embarrassed. Not the way I wanted him to first see my underwear. And just so much more embarrassing because I liked him! We never did end up going out. Hmmph.
I think it's still my most embarrassing moment, even though it was only in front of 1 person.
Mine is from when I was 18 or so. I went out with two friends and their new boyfriends as well as my then boyfriend. We were leaving a party and it had been raining, so as we walked down the stairs, the first girl walking slipped but didn't fall. The second girl slipped and fell flat on her butt. I made fun of them both and laughed hysterically because well that's what we do. As I walked down the stairs, about halfway down I slipped and fell, and then actually slid the rest of the way down the stairs and landed on my butt at the foot of the staircase. On top of that I was wearing a dress that slid all the way up my thighs. Needless to say my friends won't let me forget it to this day.
StarSailor - I've done that before! But luckily, mine didn't involve clothing being mangled. Whoops.
How about the most embarrassing moment of the year? That would be when I fell asleep in a big meeting. In my defense, I had just had Lasik the day before, and had taken (multiple) Valium for the first time - so I'm sure there was some still in my system that made me sleepy. I only dozed off for a split second, but I snapped awake with a start that I'm sure EVERYONE noticed.
(Even thinking about it now, I want to hide under my desk).
