~*~*MrsK and Daisy*~*~

Have you told your parents/family about your bfp?  If not, when do you plan to do it AND how are you planning to do it.

And anyone else who may be "peeking" at this post, how and when did you tell your parents/family??

I'm looking for some creative ideas.  My parents live 10 minutes away, but mil/fil live in NY so I can't do the same thing for both sets of parents.

Thanks everyone!

Re: ~*~*MrsK and Daisy*~*~

  • I haven't told anyone yet except DH & CLOSE friends....I was waiting to be COMPLETELY sure since the line was so faint. I just had to take another test this morning and got' a BFN!!!! if there was a second line, it was fainter than than yesterday. I feel really sick today and alot of cramping in my stomach.... not in the same place I get cramps from AF. I don't know what's going on and DH begged me to go to the dr today so thats what I'm gonna try to do. I am scared maybe I didn't really see a line yesterday.... it was so faint and hard to tell... maybe it is too soon for me to be testing.... At any rate, I am not sure yet how/when to tell them. My parents are in NJ; his are about 45 minutes away so we are kinda in the same boat as you.... I will let you know if I think of anything though. Congratulations! I am sooooo happy for you!
  • I hope you get into the doctor soon and that they can alleviate your worries.  I'll definitely cross my fingers and say a prayer for you.

Have you tried a digital test?  If you can't get in to see a doctor today, that might help answer your questions about bfn/bfp.

PS, My Dollar Tree tests suck!  None of them really gave me a bfp, whereas the name brand ones did.

  • My parents had just bought some new low acid caff-free coffee around the time I got the bfp. So I dropped in their house on my way to work and said I was out of coffee and could they make me some of their new stuff - my mom almost dropped her cup in excitement. C's parents aren't as into the surprise factor, so we just drove over and had dinner w/ them and told them the news.

For your ILs, maybe you could call and ask them to get an "I Love NY" shirt for the new baby, and let the news sink in.

I had also thought of running errands w/ my mom and parking in one of those "expecting mother" parking spaces and wait till she figured it out.

So fun to come up w/ ways to share your wonderful news!!

  • We told our families right away...it was such a shock that we just picked up the phone and started dialing. We've told our close friends as well, but we're holding off on telling everyone else until I hit the 2nd trimester.

I know there is a Nestie who has a whole list of cute ways to tell people you're pregnant. I can't remember her name though - if you check on the BOTB boards they might remember!
