Is this real or a hoax? Prize giveaway

Hi everyone! So I received a phone call from chef world inc. Has anyone heard of this company before? I supposedly have won three different prizes. One is a three day two night at a beach resort location from a selection, 2. $1000 Grocery coupon and 3. 20-40% of their finest housewares. Now do you think this is true? Anyone have this too? I was "selected" for my area as being a part of and registering to theknot. Does this sound too good to be true. And the location for the pickup of my prizes are at one of the better quality hotel's in my local area. I'm kind of iffy on this. Please let me know your honest opinion.

 Thanks!

Re: Is this real or a hoax? Prize giveaway

  • It's probably one of those "sit through our product demo before you can claim your prize" kind of deals.  I did a lot of searching on them a while back because I got a similar call (different company, though).  Usually it is technically legit, as in the prizes are real (although often with many restrictions), but not exactly honest as I'm sure the lady on the phone didn't tell you that you would be sitting through a one hour presentation on cookware while some dude steams some broccoli for you to try.  Smile

DH and I had nothing better to do and wanted to check out the new hotel they were holding it in, so we went to one.  We are now the proud owners of some Kodak film coupons and a voucher entitling us to one year of membership to some kind of vacation club...which we never bothered to send in.  A fringe benefit of attending was that DH confused the guy with technical information about his presentation (chemical name for Teflon, thermodynamics jargon, etc.).

If you do go, don't get sucked in to their sell!  I was shocked by how many couples actually purchased the overpriced cookware after the demo was over.
