UM ... DOI

We have to put in for vacation at the start of the year. it's annoying. but, it's not locked in; we can change it at any time after everyone has bid for their time off according to seniority. the PITA part is thinking about when to take off when the year hasn't started yet.

ANYWAY, i just found out i get THREE weeks- not two weeks- of vacation.

i have worked here since 2006 and never noticed. actually, i take that back. i noticed i had an extra week of vacation time last year, but with FMLA and whatever else i took off for, i just assumed i had the extra time because of vacation days i had cancelled (and that it wasn't extra time, but just days i thought i planned for off but never did).

WOO HOO! A FREE VACATION WEEK!

i also purchased a week of vacation for 2010, so i now will have 4 weeks of vacation time for next year. sounds good to me!

Re: UM ... DOI

  • Wow.  You're really moving on up!  4 weeks?  That's enough to say you go on "holiday".

  • HE it's stupid. we have the option of having a %age taken from our checks weekly throughout the year, and we can use that to either take a week of vacation throughout the year, OR i can take it as a payout at the end of the year. either way, i took the week. it's one week salary broken up over 26 paychecks.
