In re: single people sending out Xmas cards, in college it was the "in thing" to send out roommate photo cards. I was the grinch that didn't participate because I thought it was weird. Also, PMB, I'm glad you like my card. It was my glamour shot.

I have to admit that I lol'd at most of this comment on that blog:
#1. You wife is definitely far more attractive than are you, which gives us insight to your financial stature.

1. Photo pics of singles are wierd. Even more weird when they are with their cat (true story of an ex-friend).
2. I'm pretty sure even nudists would find that card offensive.

2. I'm not sure why, hypothetically speaking, photo cards are more acceptable married than single. What's the difference? It's still a picture of you, wishing people happy holidays. Is the message here "hide your face until you have a ring"?
I guess because it's a goofy, cutesy, sometimes inappropriate thing families do. That and the annual, family newsletter. We got one of those. We laughed.
It is one thing if the children had wanted to go along with it but, by your own admission, they were not keen and needed bribing with sweets (which in itself is evocative of far worse situations). I find this exploitative. They seem to just be props for the amusement of your friends. Also, the fact that you then put the image online were anyone can look at it is also worrying to me. They are your kids, no laws broken, do what you want? but the oozing ?what is this world coming to? in your tone is not justified. More exploitative than cute or funny.
