Hey ladies. DH and I are in the market for a new digital camera - just a typical point and shoot, nothing fancy. Mostly used for cataloging memories and posting them to Facebook. We are planning on buying a Flip in the new year, so it doesn't even need great video capacity.
Do you love your camera? Hate it?
We are looking in the $100 to $200 range. Unleash your opinions!
Re: Digital Camera
We have the Olympus Stylus 850SW...it's shockproof and waterproof (DH has a habit of breaking technology). I like being able to take it out and not have to be afraid of liquids being on it or dropping it and ruining it (we went hiking with some friends last fall. At the top of the mountain, my friend dropped her camera and it broke right there. I dropped ours all over the place on rocks and stuff, and it's fine).
Plus, being able to take underwater pictures is cool! The quality of the pictures is great.
I've blown up several of the pics to 8x10 for framing in our house, and they look great at that size. Our camera is an 8 megapixel model. And I believe the waterproof/shockproof cameras have come down a lot in price, so they're pretty affordable. HTH!
I always recommend Sony cameras. I love mine...
I have one similar to this one, but I have the newer model, I just bought it and it was $399
But this is also a Sony and my sister has this one, and its great...
This one is $149 at Best Buy and you can get it in a couple different colors.
Regardless of what you buy, I would go to Best Buy.com or another site and look at reviews. I always read the negative and see what they wrote, a lot of the time the poster should release you get what you pay for. You don't get a professional camera for $200 or even $400 most times.
Watch out for posting that talk about the cameras being easliy broken, thats bad news and could cost you lots of money to replace or fix it. HTH! Good Luck!
This is my camera. It's a Canon A710is. I am in love with it. I did a lot of research before buying a camera and this one has all the features I wanted plus ones I didn't even realize I wanted. You can also get a wide angle and telephoto adapter for it as well as a waterproof case.
I have this one. It works great & my last camera was a Sony as well so I would really recommend those.
Just get at least 10 or 12 MP and definitely buy a larger memory card (at least 1G). It is a good idea to go and try them out. I hate cameras with bad shutter lag (it takes a few seconds after pressing the button before it actually takes the picture) so I make sure to test & see how that is.
I've had a kodak, canon, fujifilm, and sony and DH has had a canon and a kodak and we've both found that Kodak is always the best quality pictures. I have a sony cybershot now and it won't take clear pictures unless the flash is on and even then they're not as great as the same picture taken on DH's kodak.
One of my friends just got a Nikon a few months ago and it's not great. Almost all of the pictures I've seen from it are blurred.
A friend who uses her camera mainly for a pet rescue organization also uses a kodak and loves it.
