    1. Does your boss/employer give out gifts of some sort, or bonuses (you don't have to say the amount...)?  We get a small bonus ($250 that comes out of the company budget, not his personal wallet) and he brings breakfast for everyone one morning

    2. Do they treat their employees to a big bash or dinner out? lol. No, just that breakfast. Sometimes we have a Christmas dinner out somewhere, but we each have to pay our own bill.

    3. What was the best gift, or nicest gesture you received from your boss/employer? Just letting us know that we are apreciated is nice. We get raises in January. Those are always nice.

    1. Does your boss/employer give out gifts of some sort, or bonuses (you don't have to say the amount...)? We used to do gifts in our office, but have not for two years.  It works for everyones budget, but it is less fun.

    2. Do they treat their employees to a big bash or dinner out? The College has a big Christmas party - it is tonight - yeah!

    3. What was the best gift, or nicest gesture you received from your boss/employer?  When we exchanged the two best gifts: GC to the liquor store(!) and a GC for a massage (we go to the same woman and it was nice to pamper myself for free).

  •   1. Does your boss/employer give out gifts of some sort, or bonuses (you don't have to say the amount...)? yes 2. Do they treat their employees to a big bash or dinner out? My boss also owns a hotel and we rent out the ballrooms and have dinner and a DJ for dancing. 3. What was the best gift, or nicest gesture you received from your boss/employer? This year I received a profit sharing check and a raise. I wasn't expecting it this year at all. I work in the building industry and it's still not the greatest right now!

They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
  • My boss always treats us to a lunch at a restaurant or this year we had a catered lunch at the office.  My supervisor gave me a box of turtles.  I work for municipal government and this comes out of their own pocket.  We do have a large Christmas party (pd. by the taxpayers I guess) which includes a dinner, dance, etc.
  • 1. No bonus

    2.  No free food, sometimes a pot luck, sometimes order in or go out, but pay for your own food either way. Eat on your own time lunch break or after work.

    3. A christmas card

Non-profit that relies on gov. grants and programs to run, no extra money to have fun with.

    1. Does your boss/employer give out gifts of some sort, or bonuses (you don't have to say the amount...)?  My department is only 3 people, we exchange gifts between the 3 of us.  The 'big boss' doesn't do anything, nor do we get bonus'.

    2. Do they treat their employees to a big bash or dinner out?  We have a work luncheon.

    3. What was the best gift, or nicest gesture you received from your boss/employer?  My boss always gives nice gifts, but the one I like best and use most often is a 3-section entertaining tray.

  • 1. the owners gave us all an amex gift card this year. my immediate boss gave me a spa gift certificate.

    2. our company had a nice lunch at a country club and our department had a nice lunch at a nice restaurant. we did a gift exchange at each of the lunches.

    3. I think cash is always the nicest gift and we always get time off between christmas and nys.

  • I've never worked anywhere that gave bonuses for the holidays.  I did get a box of chocolates from my boss when I worked at a small cafe in high school.
  • 1.  I just started my job in October but I got a xmas bonus and I had no idea it was coming, so I very surprised.  I figured it would be prorated and it wasn't.....I got a full week's pay just like everyone else!

    2.  Yes, last week we had a fancy party at a country club.  It was very nice.

    3.  I haven't gotten any gifts at my new job yet, but in past jobs I've never gotten anything very good.  I've appreciated the gesture, but the gifts weren't nice.

  • Our cash bonus is based on how long we have worked for company.  We also get $25 gift card to Safeway.  And then they do a drawing for various gifts as well.

We used to have a dinner at the convention center.  But due to the economy, they decided to discontinue this dinner in order to save money.

I am treated so well at my company with great benefits but I would have to say that my work bridal shower was very touching and it meant a lot to me because they bought me white dishes from my Pottery Barn registry.

  • 1. No

    2. Yes. In past years we've had really nice holiday parties at a convention center and we could bring a guest. This year with the economy they scaled down to dinner with just the employees at a nice restaurant. They have door prize drawings for really nice gifts.

    3. None that I can think of. Normally we get a Christmas card or calendar that just goes in the trash. This year they claimed that they donated some money to a charity in lieu of our Christmas gift. I guess that was a nice gesture.

    1. Does your boss/employer give out gifts of some sort, or bonuses (you don't have to say the amount...)? We get a percentage of our salary added into our paycheck this month - it's based on our performance review for the year.

    2. Do they treat their employees to a big bash or dinner out? We're having a luncheon on Wednesday during the work day - the boss is bringing in an oven roasted turkey and we're all bringing in the sides.

    3. What was the best gift, or nicest gesture you received from your boss/employer? A gift card to a movie theater last year - everyone got one and it was paid for out of our supervisor's own money which I thought was very generous.

  • 1.   Each year we get a Christmas bonus.  Sometimes it's a cheque,           sometimes it's cash. Usually in the 200-300 range.  This year, I got a few hundred dollars (althought they were taxed) but at the beginning of the month, I received a large bonus in the thousands range.  HUGE surprise.

    2.   We always go out to a nice restaurant for lunch and cocktails and then get to go home afterwards.

    3.   Besides the bonus from my boss, each partner gives us a nice gift.  One always gives us each a spa day, the other usually nice bottles of wine, starbucks, things like that.

I am really fortunate to work in a small firm where we still have such nice perks.
