I like scrapbooking because it is a nice way to show off your trip without people having their grubby fingers all up in your pictures and you get to add the flair (maps, tickets, etc.). It is better than flipping through some photos. Since I'm not very creative, mine aren't going to be the fanciests ones out there, but if they are for me (not in this case - it is for my Mom),, all that doesn't matter.
re: one page at a time - YES! I broke down my trip by day. I've had one 8 hour power session, and then a couple of 2-3 hour sessions after work. You don't have to finish it all at once.
The next book is going to be the wedding album. I'd like to have it complete to give to H for our 2nd minniversary. It'll be better than this one because the pictures are from our professional photographer, not me in a moving canal boat with a grillion other people around me.
Re: hmo & Stinky
Typically it takes me about 2 months to finish a book, if I'm working steadily. The hardest part for me is dragging out all the supplies and then putting them all away again each night, which is why those two months tend to spread themselves out over years.
Right before the wedding I finished a scrapbook from a trip to Hawaii that I took 4 years ago. I'm planning to start one for the Ireland trip I took 2 years ago, followed by one for a Canada trip taken last year. At this rate, I should get around to the wedding and honeymoon scrapbooks by our 7th anniversary. God help me if we have babies before then.

Dukis - re: the supplies - I couldn't agree more. I am hoping to take over the spare bedroom. I can sit on the bed - have piles of picks to the right, piles of paper to the left, and two TV stands - one for croper/cutter/corner cutters and the other for assembly. At least that is how I am hoping it'll pan out.
I need to get more things if I am going to do this on my own. It is a real investment. I am thinking this...

Plus some border shapers might be it for tools?
But then there is so much more!!!
See, I still do shutterfly-type books. I'll plan ahead and throw in some blank pages where I can stick on plane tickets or brochures or whatever.
Of course, I've only actually *done* one of them, from our Mexico trip in 2006. It came out great (great cloud/beach shots as backgrounds for some of my "mixed media" pages).
I have big plans for, oh, another half dozen or so. Maybe when the boys go to college I'll have time for that.
Oh, and re: wedding album - 4 years here and no album. I am considering hiring someone to do it for our 5th anniversary next year.
We should have a month-long scrapbooking GTG. Lord knows I don't have anything else to do with my time.
Min, I have a Sizzix (the older version of this machine). I've found that it's awesome for basic shapes and alphabets, and if you're willing to put the time in, they have some more detailed designs that require paper applique skills. It can also do embossing and texturing, but you're limited by the paper size it holds. All in all, one of my favorite toys though. I've been cutting out Christmas shapes just for fun the last few days.
Also, we have a small spare bedroom that would be perfect for all my stuff. Unfortunately, the landlord left behind a queen sized bed and it takes up pretty much the whole room. I'm thinking of getting a huge sheet of plywood and turning the bed into a table.

Not a bad idea, on turning the bed into a HUUUUGE table.
I think we would have to have a month long scrapbooking GTG before I would know how to use that machine. I am just getting the basics down! Maybe I should make another book before I tackle the wedding photos.
I have another trip (our Scandanavian cruise) that I could do in a 12X12 book for more practice. I have all the stuff that I kept, and that was two years ago.
