Branson & Bennett Springs
Brett switched a shift as a favor for a guy at work and he now has 5 days off in a row (!) so we are thinking about taking a mini-vacation. We are thinking Branson or Bennett Springs so I need all the information on both places that you have! Thanks!

Re: Branson & Bennett Springs
Jen, I went to Branson in March with my SIL and nieces and we are going back next month with the hubbies. I have never been to Bennett Springs so I don't really know what there is to do there but I recommend Branson. It was a lot of fun. You guys could do Silver Dollar City, White Water, Celebration City, go to the Titanic exhibit, Dixie Stampede (Matt and I really enjoyed it), shopping. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Michele
Thanks Michele! Where do you stay while you are down there? I am overwhelmed by the amount of hotels and lodging!!

Matt and I went on our honeymoon and stayed at a Bed and Breakfast and loved it. It is the Cameron's Crag Bed and Breakfast. I can't remember where we stayed when we in March. Next month we are going to stay at the Ramada Limited. It is not super nice but for being inexpensive. If you book through Expedia right now you can get a $50 gas card on stays over 3 nights or more and if you use the coupon code "vacation10" you can get $10 off a night on hotels over $75.00. I know there are nicer places to stay but it just depends on what you want to spend. E-mail me if you have any other questions and let me know what you decide!
Also in Branson they have a lot of miniature golf places and go carts that are a lot of fun!
My dad and I used to go trout fishing in Bennett Springs all the time and that's really all I know that there is to do there. They do have a fish hatchery so you can feed the fish which is fun (and cheap) but otherwise, if it wasn't fishing related, I can't tell you much about it.
Sounds like a fun mini-cation though!
My family took their first camping and canoe trip in Bennett Springs a few years ago. It was a lot of fun even though I don't really care for "roughing it."
We canoed down the Niagua (sp?) river and had a ton of fun!
MY BLOG
We had a girls' weekend at Branson earlier this year and went out one night for a nice dinner at the Chateau Grille at Chateau on the Lake. It overlooks Table Rock Lake. There are some inexpensive breakfast/lunch restaurants in old downtown Branson, which is much less crowded than the strip. If you have a AAA card, you can save a few bucks per ticket at a lot of places. There also coupon books you can request or probably find at all the tourist info centers there.
We didn't really see a whole lot of attractions, but someone mentioned a double-level go-kart track place on the main drag that sounded really fun. We went to the butterfly museum, the big Shepherd of the Hills tower (prob. not worth the $), and Branson Landing. I'm no help as far as lodging b/c we stayed at a condo one of the girls belonged to.
This map is really helpful as far as alternate routes to avoid the evil traffic jam of the strip (76) through downtown:

I know that Lambert's Restaurant is also somewhere near Branson. I've never been there, but a friend thinks it's a fun place for fried chicken. They throw dinner rolls at you or something?
Have fun!
Yes! Lambert's is in Sikeston and they are the "home of the throwed rolls" it's similar food to Stroud's and the waiters will throw your roll at you from the aisle, it's a fun restaurant
I heard a rumor they are putting a second location in KC but haven't heard much about it.
Bennett Springs also has a nature center that provides free nature and craft classes.
I remember as a kid going through some "Junior Naturalist" program while my dad went fishing. More recently my Mom and I took a class on basket weaving.
Plus there is canoing and such.
There is a lot to do, but I don't know if there is enough for all 5 days.
I just saw your post. I also heard that Lambert's are coming to KC. Apparently they are trying to get it to go in by the Bass Pro out in Independence?? I hope the rumor is true, I'm looking forward to it!
