Garmin GPS recommendations?

I'd like to buy a garmin for my DH and would like some suggestions if you have any.  What model do you have and what do you like/dislike about yours?  If you had the option, would you keep yours or trade it in for one that offered more features and which ones?  I would like it to have automatic rerouting, voice prompting (where it says, turn Right on <road name>, Points of Interest (think they all do), a speed limit indicator would be nice.  I was originally looking in the $200 and less price range, but then saw some for $399.  So my price range is under $400.

Re: Garmin GPS recommendations?

  • The Garmin - n?vi 255WT GPS and love it. Best Buy is selling that model and the one down from it Garmin - n?vi 255W GPS for the same price. I think it may be a website error. The only difference is the WT gives traffic updates... road construction, traffic, stalled vehicles, road closures ect. It is a great feature to have, if you travel out of town.
  • I have a Garmin N?vi 650, and it's proven quite useful.  I'm sure there are better models out there now (I've had this one for almost 2 years now).  Be sure to check all the available options for Garmins, like an FM transmitter (for listening to audiobooks or music, but the GPS can cut in with directions easily), different screen sizes, SD card readers, and weather updates via MSN.

By the way, you could have just put these details in your other post asking for GPS recommendations.  I appreciate all the details you provided - that's all I was asking for in the other post, as it's hard to make recommendations without them - but I don't see the need to create a new post.

  • QVC has some decent deals on GPS'.  I got mine from them (I have a Garman Nuvi 255W) and I love it.
