We are throwing our annual holiday party tonight. Drinks and appetizers, good music, Christmas movies in the background, a good time had by all. I just got a text from a girl I'm friends with (not super close, but we are friends, she has been to several of these parties over the years) telling me she is bringing green bean casserole.
I did not ask her to bring this, I do not want her to bring this. Besides the fact that I can't eat green bean casserole (after throwing it up when I got the flu on Thanksgiving), this is an appetizer-style party--I am already planning on serving like 8 different kinds of finger foods. Now I have to provide dinner plates and forks? And when you go to a cocktail party, isn't it annoying to have food that needs a fork?
So, what do I tell her? Please don't bring that?

Yeah! If we play our cards right we'll still be partying when you all are waking up! (not really, I haven't done that in nearly a decade, I'm sure--but it sounds good!)

How did it go Lark?
I remembered after you posted this last night that I had a similar aversion to green bean casserole. When I was first pregnant with DD, my H (then baby daddy) came up to my apartment to make me dinner so I could eat right (yes, we did things the smart way--lived 3 hours apart for the first 5 months of my pregnancy--woohoo! oh yeah + I didn't know how to cook anything and didn't care about learning).
So he came up and made me a turkey with gravy, green bean casserole, mac and cheese etc...a real feast to last through the week. I was so nauseous in the beginning that I couldn't eat anything and about hurled the green bean casserole too. It took me until this year to be able to eat it again! haha, totally feel your pain on that one
