Something horrible happened to my family this week... my dog killed my parent's beloved Jenday Conure, Sunny. I can't put into words how much this has saddened everyone... my mother in particular is just beside herself, and the guilt DH and I have been feeling is overwhelming. There is a huge void in my parent's hearts and their home, as Sunny was an amazingly special bird to them and the whole family. DH and I know we can't make things right, but we want to make things better by getting them a new bird (which they say they DO want, they just want to make sure it's the RIGHT bird). Do you know of any place that sells or breeds bird in NH, Maine or MA? Particularly Jenday Conures? Please pass along any recs you may have. Thanks so much ladies
Re: Heartbroken, need help. (bird related)
omg im so sorry to hear that! thats awfu for everyone involved!!!!
i nkow theres an exotic bird place on 101a in nashua. its called wingsong. the birds are hand fed, hand raised..... reallly taken spectacular care of..... i dont know what they have exactly but i have heard fabulous things about them.
Thank you both. Kim, I went to the wingsong website and apparantly they closed last year because their building was sold and has since been torn down to make room for a strip mall Please keep your recs coming, I really do appreciate it.
I'm sorry this happened, Angela. ?You poor thing. ?My sister's dog killed my mom's 2 ducks back in January and I remember how hard it was on everyone.
I'm sorry I don't have any advice on where to find a bird, but I did want to send you some (((hugs))).?
I don't have any helpful info for ya, but i can relate to the experience and it is devestating - for sure. I'm so sorry!
My family's dog that we had for many years (who just passed recently herself) killed a parakeet that we also had! I saw it happen and could not intervene in time to save the bird's life - I just remember how awful the whole experience was and I'm still tearing up thinking about it!
I am so sorry to hear about this :-(. I cant imagine what you (and your parents) are feeling right now.
Sadly, i do not know of any breeders of Jenday Conures, but if you parents are interested, i do know of a 15 year old (that is young, they live to be 70) Cockatoo that needs a good home. My FIL (who passed away last month)had Diamond and now that he has passed away, we are thinking we need to place him, because my MIL can not handle Diamond on her own and the rest of us dont have time for him. If the Jenday Doesnt work out, and your parents might be interested let me know.
Either way i hope that something works out for them.
I am sorry that this has happened to your family.
I'm not sure what they have at all but there is a store that sells birds and bird supplies in Somersworth NH called Wild Birds Unlimited. Thier phone number is 603-743-4928.
I hope you find the right bird. Good Luck.
