Anyone use GMail?

I use it, and was wondering if anyone knows how I can make a folder and save my inbox email to it. I tried it and it deleted it and did not put anything in the folder.

So, if you could help me, that would be wonderful!

Thanks!

Re: Anyone use GMail?

  • There are no folders per se with Gmail. You can label things though and than go to that label. So I guess that's how you put things in folders. Label your message with what folder you want it to be in.

Select the message (check box) and go to the "More Actions" drop down box. Select "New Label" and write in what you want the label to be. That should work. Oh, and gmail is great because you can also search through all of your emails with the search feature. you just type in "bills" or "trip" and it brings up all the emails with those words in it. I puffy heart Gmail!

  • Thank you for helping.. but, after I label them, how do I get them out of my inbox into the "folder". I see next to the email where it says my label name, but, they are still in my inbox.
  • They will stay in your inbox forever. It annoyed me at first but you get used to it. You just can't be _anal about having a clean inbox (and I was!) anymore. But it really is more of a help than a hindrance.

  • If you select their check box to the left of the email and they are already labeled you can hit the "Archive" button.  Then when you want to pull up certain messages you go to the left side of the screen and find your specific folder under hte "Labels" section and you can pull them up.  if you dont want to put them in any specific folder but dont want to delete you can just select them and hit archive.  it keeps them under "All Mail" and everything in the folders shows up under all mail too.

    Hope this helps!
