So. Bacon only ever saw the dr. for her well-child checkups until this year. So far, she's had pink eye twice, and last week she came down with a rash that turned out to be strep, and had beads in her ears.
Well, she was on amoxicillin or the strep, and they took the beads out, and everything seemed fine - until yesterday, when I was on my way out the door for church. She came shuffling up the stairs and says, "Mommy, I have more spots!"
Did she ever. Huge spots, not the little petichiae she had with the strep. So off to the urgent care we went, because I didn't know what the heck it was.
Turns out, she's allergic to the "cillins". Penicillin, amoxicillin, whatever other ones there are. She'd broken out in an allergic-reaction rash, along with a little fever and hives. No one in either family (that we know of) is allergic to anything, so it was quite a surprise.
I'm hoping we can make it to 2010 without another dr. visit. I didn't use to think a week and a half without health professionals was a tall order, but man, this kid has worse luck than I do!
Re: Kindergarten will kill you
Poor Bacon and mama. It gets better. The kiddo went thru a phase when it seemed like he was sick more often than not. For the past few years, we've averaged about one 'sickness' (meaning out of school, go to the Dr.) per year. It will get better.
The kiddo is allergic to all the 'cillins' too. They found out when he was about 1 or so.
