I cannot wait for my mom to open her presents

My mom still makes us stocking presents every year. They are awesome too. Every year, it's the same thing: a calendar, a magazine, something personalized, a chocolate orange, holiday socks, a toothbrush, and something she thinks we'd like (like my sister gets a pair of earrings, I get a knitting item). She makes one for DH as well.

This year my sister and I decided to make her a stocking. We got her Real Simple, these pocket toothbrush things, some candy (it is very hard to find chocolate oranges FYI), a sudoko calendar, a magnetic grocery list thing, some socks, some Disney princess pencils, and stickers. The best part is that the stickers are all Grandma related. My mom is so paranoid about being called Grandma, and I can't wait to see her open up the stickers that say "Grandmas were born to spoil!"

Re: I cannot wait for my mom to open her presents

  • I'm excited for my mom to open her scrapbook. However, if she doesn't immediately declare me as her favorite daughter and demand to be buried with the book - I may take it back. That thing took forever to make.

I am sure your mom will love her stocking.

  • Chocolate oranges are hard, but not as hard as finding chocolate geld - those chocolate coins in little pouches? We used to get those in our stockings every year, but I had to give up on finding any. It's not worth ordering from teh intertubez, either.

  • Really? I've seen those before. I'll see them at the grocery store near the Hannukah stuff.
  •  it's hard to find chocolate oranges?  i seem to remember getting one in my stocking every year.  granted i've never looked to purchase one myself.

but damn, i was thinking i might get mr. kat one for his stocking.

  • I hate chocolate oranges. Why ruin something as wonderful as chocolate with the flavor of oranges? I do love whacking them on the table and having all the slices fan out though.
  • Duckis, you can get them in different flavors. My mom usually gets me a dark chocolate/raspberry flavor. We did find some but they were all orange toffee crunch. That is disgusting.

  • I only ever see chocolate oranges at drugstores, and chocolate Geld at Cost Plus World Market. Sometimes Winco has them in the bulk section too.
