:::Robbi::: and other Kitchen Lovers
So...we still don't have a kitchen. But in the time/money space continuum, we're leaning more toward the money side and have hired a contractor to help us.
This means that the kitchen design debate has heated up again. MH likes this dark cherry color cabinet, but wants to go with a dark countertop as well. I think dark cabinets and dark countertops will be too much dark.

My latest attempt at compromise is to go with espresso cabinets and then a lighter white/grayish granite, shown below.

(Ignore the brown slab to the left -- that's a different slab):

So, kitchen design experts and fanciests, what do you think?
Re: :::Robbi::: and other Kitchen Lovers
Personally, I like the contrast of the dark cabinets and light granite, and I think it would look especially nice with the green tiles you were thinking of (it was little green tiles for a backsplash, wasn't it?).
But honestly, I'm not a big fan of cherry stain on wood (I don't know why?), so that's probably tipping me in your favor as well and I'd likely vote against it in most cases.
And for context, this is the planned layout of our kitchen:
