question for renters

We're renting out our condo again, and I'm wondering where renters look for places to rent. Do you only use sources like apartments.com or do you also check out craigslist and bulletin boards (if you work/go to school some place where they have listings). Thanks for any responses... I just don't want to waste money or drag my little guy around posting stuff if it is unlikely to get viewers.

Re: question for renters

  • When we were looking for a place, we strictly used craigslist.. I'd check the websites of rental companies, but we eventually found our house on Craigslist :)

  • I'm glad to hear that about craigslist! We definitely use it because it is free and easy but I always wonder how many people use it for rentals :)

  • I stalked Craigslist multiple times a day when we were looking for a new place.  I also googled, because we were willing to live in a complex that was 2 cat and future-dog-of-any-breed-friendly and found the websites for complexes.  Those were the only two places we looked.
  • I also stalked Craigslist when finding a place to live. And pictures are a nice touch, too. ;)
  • We too found our place on Craigslist and almost used it exclusively when looking.

  • Craigslist!

For us, if it didn't have photos, we wouldn't look at it.

  • I think I only looked at Craiglist, too.

Tritto this.  I don't know why people think anyone would be interested in buying/renting something if they can't get at least a general idea of what it looks like without going to look at it.

I checked Willamette Week ads, too.

In case you're wondering where everyone went: http://pandce.proboards.com/index.cgi
  • I look at craigslist, but there is so much junk on there that I found it very hard to find what I wanted.  I ended up finding my place on rent.com

  • Thanks everyone!
