iTunes Help?

So, I just opened up my iTunes and it is empty. None of my music is in it. None of my playlists. Nothing.

All of my music is still on my computer, but it's like a brand new naked iTunes.

I don't know why, and I don't like it. Obviously it's not a tragedy, but I want my playlists. They are special.

Has this happened to anyone? Anyone know what to do? I'm going to Google around, but sometimes I don't understand what they are trying to tell me. Tongue Tied

Re: iTunes Help?

  • I think if you plug in your ipod the playlists should show up under your ipod's info. Just make sure you don't let it sync with your empty itunes.
  • In your iTunes folder is there a backup of your iTunes library? If so you can double click that and it should pull up an old version of your iTunes. Hope this makes sense :/

The most recent backup is from September, and I've added a ton of stuff since then.

So, my choices were to restore my entire library and re-build my playlists, or use that backup and go through my folder trying to figure out what I added since then. Tongue Tied

And my iPod is set to manual sync, so I'm afraid to plug it in.

I have no idea why it did this! It's such a PITA!

Yeah, I wouldn't plug in the iPod it may wipeout all of your music. Since you said you had all of your music on your computer. It might be best to use the backup from September and add your new music. Rebuild or add-on to your playlists. It sucks, we try to backup once a month and make a copy of that backup moving it into our external hard drive. We had to learn the hardway one time :/
