We never believed in Santa.

My parents never really did that. We always knew our presents came from our parents or grandparents, whatever. I don't think we ever missed out. We had plenty of other family traditions and we still got into Christmas. My sister and I did do our fair share of ruining the Santa myth for other kids though. We enjoyed that.

  • I was ridiculously old before I realized Santa was my parents.

  • We believed in Santa. We always did Xmas with my dad's side of the family on Xmas Eve, and on the drive home, our job was to watch for Santa. It was a smart move to get us to STFU. I think I was 10 when we figured it out, though.
  • I'm glad I believed in Santa.  The illusion was great while it lasted.

  • We did too. The whole milk and cookies thing got me every year. I would tell my older sister, "See he really was here." She would side eye me because she was older, and knew the 411.

I still remember the year that my parents hired "Black Santa" to come to our house, and all of the kids from our block came over. Looking at "Black Santa" now makes me think Dad got him on sale, because he looks like he might have had a few cocktails before he came over.

    Memories.

  • James Charlevois ruined Santa for me in 3rd grade, when I was about to turn 8. I cried all that day at school and all the way home. It was awful. He made fun of me for still believing, too. I was 7! Of course I still believed!

No one's ruined it for Bacon yet, and I hope it stays that way, especially since this is the first year she really seems to "get" Christmas. And she knows the presents from relatives are from relatives, and she gets stocking stuffers from us, so it's not like Santa's the ONLY one bringing stuff.
