My own name was butchered

By the idiot mover.

Y'all know my name. On our receipt, he spelled it with a frackin' W on the end. A *DUBYA*!

I saw it, snorted, looked at FIL, pointed to it, and he snorted, too.

I really thought I'd see it all, but that one takes the cake.

Re: My own name was butchered

  • SIOBHANYAW?  that makes no sense.

  • That's odd.

I still can't believe the guy at Panera who thought I said my name was Diane.

  • There are a few different ways to spell your name, but that isn't one of them.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

  • Wow. That's just sad, Stinky.
  • so adding a W to the end a name is buthering it? really? hmm. and i thought *I* was one to overreact.

    ;)

  • Ever since, I've been seeing other names and slapping dubyas on the end.

    Angelinaw

    Elizaw

    Suew

    Etc.

  • My name gets butchered on a regular basis. I'm sure your's does too, Zzilla.

Okay, so maybe not *butchered,* but definitely bastardized. W? Really?

Does it help that I tell you his name was Gilbert? And his (special-needs) son was Gilbert, Jr?

  • oh yes. i am called DIANNA on a regular basis.

my spelling isn't the norm, so i am used to it being spelled wrong. i actually spell it incorrectly to vendors using the common spelling because i hate the "oh that is so unusual!" conversation. is it? is it really that unusual? SMDH.

  • My last name is 3 letters and a real word.  It gets butchered too.
  • Most of you guys know my name from FB (if you even remember who I am).  I tend to speak really fast and when people ask my name, about 80% of the time the people will come back and be like "hi Melissa".  It's always Melissa.  I really try to slow down when I tell someone my name now.
