Recommend your Toddler potty

Its that time... Brianna tells us when she has gone to the bathroom " pee pee mama" and squats as if she is sitting on a toilet, and sometimes when going #2 she'll go and hide behind her highchair.

There are so many different kinds out there and some have viewer ratings and others do not.  Is there anything specific I should be looking for?  TIA!

Re: Recommend your Toddler potty

  • We got the Baby Bjorn one...just white, pretty simple...has only 2 pieces to it and it's easy for him to dump himself (when supervised of course! lol). The lesser the parts to it, the less I have to clean. I didn't want anything cutesy cause I know he'd get distracted if it had songs etc etc too. I got this one from BRU but they also have them on amazon.com in different colors.

    Good luck PT'ing!

  • I'm with Stacy, the simpler the better!

The one I have is from Target, Circo brand.  It cost less than $10 and also has a lid that folds down and makes it double as a step-stool - the perfect height for Jakob to wash his hands in the bathroom sink.

    Love it!

  • Agreed with PP on the simplier the better.  Also, I always recommend to get the seats that go on the potty rather than the little pottys- otherwise you have to go through another transition later to use the big one.  Plus, it can be confusing for them to understand that the little plastic seat on the floor is the same as the big potty that flushes and mommy and daddy use, KWIM? And then of course, they are nasty to clean lol!  You can get a little seat for on the potty for less than $10 at WalMart.  Good luck!
  • We just got a very basic Target brand one for $10.  We just started today and he peed 5 times.  Yeah!!  Good luck!

  • Jody reminded me, that upstairs we have the potty ring on that toilet, so he does go on both. Like she said it would be easier to get them used to that 1st instead of doing another whole transition, but we got the little potty at our 3rd attempt to PT cause we thought maybe the ring was the problem, but we now know it wasn't the prob cause he'll go on both, he just hadn't been ready is all. I also didn't want an extra mess to clean, but it's really not as bad as I had anticipated. I just keep a thing of lysol wipes in the bathroom and rinse and wipe down each time he goes.

  • OMG really?? Wow. . . GL!!?
  • Based on my experiences w/ my nephews, I second Jody!

Also, the little pottys get disgusting to empty & clean & stink!!
