Bridal shower idea's

Hey ladies a friend of mine is getting married and I've been assigned to throw her  one of two bridal showers. The first one her soon to be MIL is throwing and its going to include family and be all about the stuff they registered for. The second is the one I"m going to be planning and she wants that one to be all about intimates and its just going to be friends no family invited. Anyone have any ideas for a shower like this. TIA!

Re: Bridal shower idea's

  • I have been to a couple showers like this where we went out for the bachelorette night on the town right afterward. Very few of my friendss have wanted to go out the actual night before their wedding, so we have had combo intimate shower/bach party.

  • It sounds a bit like a bachelorette-party style shower, I think.  I would have a cocktail style party, starting around 7.  Make it really classy, have some fancy cocktails, finger foods, maybe a "Sex and the City" theme.  You could decide to take the party "out on the town" later on if you chose.

You could also have one of the "girls night out" companies come in and throw a party during your party.  They have quirky little games and such.  Guests can purchase toys, lotions, etc. for the bride as well as taking things home for themselves.

It all depends on the brides personality I think.  Good Luck!

  • The pp'ers have good ideas. Or you can do a slumber party or something with sweets and cocktails, then have the bride to be in a lingerie show. ha. One of my girlfriends did this (some would be mortified), but she is just a ham and loved it.

Cocktail party theme and do appetizers and drinks

Rent out or reserve a part of a restaurant/bar and celebrate afterwards with some dancing

  • If you're going to do lingerie the girls might all feel more comfortable at a home instead of out at a restaurant. And do it up with hors d' oevres and a signature cocktail.

Having one of those pure romance type of parties at home can be fun but only if everyone wants to spend $ so maybe ask around if everyone can afford this.

There's also an idea to go for pole dancing lessons together.  That could be fun!

You know your group best but if you're not sure you can send out a save the date and a poll for the guests to see what they'd be interested in.

  • You got a lot of good ideas here.  What pp's described sounds like my bachelorette party.  We started at the house with snacks ad cocktails and my BFF had a $ex toy party rep come to the house.

I NEVER thought that was something I would like but we had a blast!  I have a few different friend groups that didn't know each other but after some wine and laughing at the "toys" everyone became friends.

But if you were not going to go the cocktail hour route - you could do a spa party and hire a manicurist and a chair massager and have spa-like food and drinks and pampering.

  • a game: tell each guest to bring a pair of underwear that best represents them but in the brides size...hang them all up at the shower and have the bride guess who brought which underwear (we made the bride take shots when she got it wrong, but you could do something else if you want:)) and then she gets to keep all of the underwear for her honeymoon :)

  • Another cute idea that they did at my shower was take balloons and go by a store and buy some panties and put them on the balloons and hang them from the celing with like tape becuase the panties were to heavy for the ballons to float.  But they put them over all the door entry ways or any any door arches... it was super cute... balloons with panties all over them...

I plan on doing this exact same thing for my BFF's bachelorette party next year.  I think it's cute and simple.  And panties are easier to shop for then lingerie "sets" b/c you don't know what might fit, etc.
