Average amt for apps on itunes?

I tried to go to the app store tonight online and see but the link isn't working.  I need to get DH a stocking stuffer and thought I would buy an itunes gift card to go with his new touch, but I don't know how much an average app that isn't free costs.

Re: Average amt for apps on itunes?

  • This is from last year, but it still sounds about right to me:

With respect to pricing, the vast majority of paid apps are $.99 and interestingly enough, there are actually more applications for $.99 than there are free ones.  The average selling price of an app in the app store is $3.21, and the average price of paid apps is a tad higher at $4.15.

  • I'm sure the average cost for an app would go down if you took out the $50+ navigation/GPS map apps.  I've gotten a lot of good freebies :)

  • Most of the apps I've purchased were $2.99 or less.  There have been a few $5.99 and one $9.99 (Rock Band), but as the pp's have said, a lot of them are only $0.99.

A $10 iTunes gift card could go a long way!

  • Ditto pps - I think a $10 or $15 GC would be great.  I only have a Touch and since it has limited capabilities on certain apps when you're not near wifi, I don't often pay for any and just use the free ones.
