Things to Do in the QC Area
Hi, this is my first post here.
My name's Kelly and I moved to Davenport from Dubuque, IA almost 2 years ago but we were always busy with house things and family things (all of our family lives outside the area so we're always traveling) that now that we're done with the house we're looking for some fun things to do on weekends.
Got any ideas? We're going to a QC River Bandits game this week for the first time...

Re: Things to Do in the QC Area
John Deere Pavillion in Moline (What would be the QC without JD?), an ice cream tour of the QC, Figge Art Museum, IMAX movie, Niabi Zoo, What's For Dinner tonight? (In Bettendorf... similar to Super Suppers). There is a nice bike trail that my MIL keeps talking about in Davenport.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE VanderVeer's Rose Garden!! Parks and Recs also did free movie nights there (stumbled upon Wizard of Oz contest a few weeks ago there)... I'm not sure if the free movies were just in June or summer time.
I'm usually up in the QCA about once a month (family), so we hang out with them alot. But I'm open to meeting some other people besides family if you ever want!
Check out the World's Largest Truck Stop on I-80 (just west of Davenport). A sight to see. IMAX theatre. Figge Art Museum. John Deere Pavillion in Moline (What would be the QC w/o John Deere??). Go on an Ice Cream tour of the QC. There is a really nice bike trail in Davenport as well (MIL talks about it).
VandeerVeek has a very pretty rose garden that I LOVE LOVE LOVE! Parks and Recs has done free movies in the park on Fridays (think it was just for June, but not sure... worth looking into).
Thanks ladies!
We've been to a Steamwheelers game, since the field is so small it feels almost like football and tennis combined, you keep looking back and forth, it's weird. Also, definitely have tried the ice cream, loving that here for sure! We did go to an IMAX movie, The Polar Express, and I got totally car sick because of the heights and moving around but we will have to go to the Figge still, Niabi Zoo and Vander Veer park, I drive past it once in a while but I'm out by the Machine Shed so it's a little drive...I've been wanting to try the bike trail but since I saw on TV a few weeks ago how those rowdy kids were chasing people on the trail I haven't been brave enough to go.
Yes, I'm a little weird, I have a little anxiety about new places and new people so I tend to overthink everything. Like tomorrow we're going to the River Bandits game with my husband's company party and I'll be meeting all his co-workers for the first time, I'm super nervous!!
Even though you are from Dubuque... what about a day trip on a Saturday to Maquoketa Caves? I think the drive-in theatre is still there as well.
Sorry about some of the double posting of info earlier... the nest went into "upgrading" mode last night around 11:30-12 midnight, so I didn't post what I was typing... put I see it did post! Oops!!
