NorCal needs Orlando restaurant rec

Visiting from the Nor Cal board. DH and I will be going to Orlando for New Years Eve to visit his folks. ILs moved to Orlando from Miami after DH moved out here to California so he doesn't have any suggestions for dinner for NYE. We like good food and good wine and would like to take ILs to a nice NYE dinner as a wedding thank-you since they paid for most of our September wedding.

I know its kind of late notice, but I"m hoping for a few ideas so I can make some calls.

  • Here's a listing of many of the places that are open:

Of the ones on that list, I like Roy's, Emeril's and Hanibal's. I haven't tried the Boheme, but it's in the Grand Bohemian downtown, so if you're looking for something fancy, that one might be fun.

Even though they're not on that list, I would be that many of the restaurants at the Disney resorts are open too. There are some great restaurants in that area if you don't mind the drive. I love Todd English's BlueZoo.

Another fave locals' spot of mine is Le Coq au Vin just south of downtown Orlando. I see a New Year's menu listed on their Web site but I'm not sure if they mean NYE or NYD. The Oceanaire on I-Drive is another place I like, and I see on their Web site that they are open on NYE. The inside of that place is gorgeous, and the food and service are top-notch.

Hope this helps! GL with your planning!

  • Ok, good.  I'm glad you asked here!  I've been trying to get ahold of my friend for recs, but I think she is traveling today.  Hopefully you get some good ideas and I'll still ask her when I get ahold of her.
