idkiwp

i was really hoping to have an IDKIWP moment for you ladies last night. I kept kidding H about that in the ER last night "just you wait, we're going home with twins!"

the trans-vaginal US tech thought that it was funny when I told her about it. She actually had an idkiwp patient about a month ago. The woman was having abdominal pain and had an IUD. When she went in for the trans-vaginal US, the tech was like, you don't have an IUD, you have a baby! The patient was about 5 months along, and not in labor - but was pretty shocked and upset. Apparently she and her husband had an infant at home and didn't want another baby at the time. The IUD must not have been placed well and her body had somehow expelled it without her knowing.

My Mirena was firmly in place. I have to say that the trans-vaginal US was actuall the best of all of the tests I went thorough. The tech was very nice and since I was interested (i'm a nerd with a bioengineering degree) she was showing me everything on the screen. It was pretty neat to actually see an ovary developing eggs.

For anyone who read my post from the morning - I need to get with my GYN, but the ER doc and the US tech both said they thought the cyst would go away on it's own and I wouldn't need surgery or anything. Apparently 3cm is considered "large" but the US tech said she's seen them up to 8-9cm, so I really shouldn't worry.

Re: idkiwp

  • You poor thing. I hope you're feeling better.

I had a cyst in high school and it was killer. My doctor said that the pain from pressure on an ovary is akin to squeezing a guy's testicles. So now you know what it's like to be kicked in the nuts, I guess.

  • so what you're saying is that for any guy who can't understand my pain - i should kick him in the nuts and say "it's something like that, only it won't go away in an hour"? Devil
  • hopefully it will go away quickly. stupid ovaries.
  • oh ok, from this mornings post I thought you said a 3 inch cyst.  I hope it clears up soon.

  • oops. i might have said 3" - I was pretty out of it when i was typing that!
  • I love ultrasounds. I love medical tests in general. I think if I could, I'd get an ultrasound or a CT scan every day. I love seeing my insides in a non-invasive way.
