Caramel Apple Pie using Mrs Smiths???

DH and I had some DELICIOUS Apple Pies at our Bible Study not too long ago.  The person who made them said that she just bakes Mrs. Smiths Apple Pies according to the directions and then melts a package of caramels in the microwave along with either Sweetened Condensed Milk or Evaporated Milk and then pours that on top and sticks them back in the oven.  Has anyone ever done this?  I need to know if it is Evap Milk or Sweet Cond milk and how long to cook the pies once I add this.  TIA!

  • I've never made caramel pie the way you just described.  The time I made it I just got a can of Eagle Brand and boiled it (can and all) for about 3-4 hours, which turns the Evap Milk into caramel then I just poured it in a pie shell.

    ETA:  Sorry, I totally looked over the fact that it was Caramel APPLE Pie you were asking about.  Disregard what I just said. :)
