Moms- 4 teeth at once! (and a question)

Lord help me.

Srsly, can you all pray for me? ?He's getting his 4 top (front) teeth all at the same time. ?This poor kid. ?I won't even talk about the drool.

Teething tabs, teething rings, Tylenol, Orajel- nothing is helping!!! ?He is so wakeful at night and just wants me to hold him.?

Moms- do you think it's bad if I don't let him CIO right now? ?With all the traveling and being away from home, I had decided to start it hardcore when we got home. ?But since we got home, he's been teething like crazy and I just feel like he's in pain and he needs me and I don't want to let him cry. (I let him fuss and whine, but he got hysterical, so I just went and got him.) ?Do you think it would be a major setback if I just waited a little longer? ?I think 4 teeth at once is a lot and he is clearly in pain and I think *that* is why he is crying at night....?

Re: Moms- 4 teeth at once! (and a question)

  • Motrin is the only thing that worked for Maddie while teething. She started all top four at once too but they came in separately. It's totally your call about CIO but I do things differently when Maddie's sick or teething that bad.?
  • no, it's not. Alex got all four on top at once too, plus the two side ones on the bottom. He's a motrin baby like Maddie. Don't worry about CIO, he's in rough shape right now.
  • oh, and IIRC, tylenol won't help with teething. It's not an anti-inflammatory like Motrin is.

edited to add: have you dampened a few facecloths and twisted them up and put them in the bottom of the fridge? After they solidify a bit he may get some relief from chewing on those.

  • Thanks, ladies. ?I will try the Motrin tonight! ?Will also try the washcloth thing. ?Thanks for the support and advice!
  • Go with your gut Mommy! I would think if he is in pain and needs you to hold him now - go with that....
  • The other good thing is Motrin lasts longer, an added perk at night :-)

I also don't really do CIO if he is seriously teething or sick.

The frozen washcloth or ice in the mesh feeder is good.  Owen also loves to chew/gum his toothbrush when he is teething.  He has an extra one that I let him use for that purpose.

  • Ok, I feel better . ?Sometimes DH thinks I am a softy (I am...), but my mommy instinct tells me he needs me. ?I think we're gonna put CIO on hold a bit longer...at least till the last 2 of these 4 teeth break through!
  • Poor little guy (and mommy). I think you are right not to let him cio. Do what your instincts tell you.
