Help! WWYD: Re: baby sleeping
Okay, so this week I am aiming at breaking the swaddling habit - he didn't nap well at all today and I had put him down at 3pm for a nap - he fussed on and off and cried intermittently and finally fell asleep around 4:45pm - yes, he fussed that long! Well, he's still asleep and usually his bedtime is between 5:30-6:30pm....I know you shouldn't wake a sleeping baby, but I feel his whole night time schedule will be totally thrown off now if he is down for the night now or wakes up around 7 or 8pm....plus I he is still in his romper and I haven't gotten him into his PJs yet nor has he had his "dinner".....I just don't know if I should wake him or not...WWYD?
Re: Help! WWYD: Re: baby sleeping
okay...
I would love it if his bedtime were later...but he does pretty good - wakes twice during the night to eat and is up for the day at 7am...
i would let him sleep too...possibly he may sleep more thru the night that way. and as far as jammies jack usually sleeps in a onsie in his swaddle,if he falls asleep in his day's clithes i certainly don't wake him, but that rarely happens b/c we have to swaddle him anyways. i wouldn';t worry about changing him into pjs at this point, unless it's something too hot or constricting. he won't know the diff my dear. try this schedule tonight & see how he does...jack usually wants to nap around 530, then wakes for his feeding and goes to bed for the night at about 830-900, we are working slowly to get to 8pm, but he sleeps with no waking up till 630-7, and the last two days he has slept until 8a. my advice is when he does stray from his schedule, give it a try, it may work better for you all, or not, but he may just be trying to get you on a schedule that works for him, which at this age is pretty normal and starting to settle a bit kwim? sorry for bad typing jack is squirming all over. let us know how it goes lisa!
Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right?? ?I'm trying to get Ben to go down earlier- he is such a night owl like his Mama. ?He's never in bed before 9 and it's more like closer to 10 these days!! ?No matter what I do, that kid just doesn't want to go to bed early. ?Dr. Page said it was fine as long as he was getting enough sleep. ?
And dude, I am having the SAME dilemma right now!!! ?Ben has been asleep since 3 and is STILL not up. ?I checked on him twice and I can smell there is a poopy diap, but he is not stirring. ?I have a feeling the teething is messing with his sleep. ?It's killing me not to wake him up, but I won't....ahhhhhh!?
I caved .....and opened our bedroom door to see if he'd wake naturally....as soon as I opened the door he woke up....I wiped him down quickly, read one story, fed him and put him back down...he was pretty hungry though, so I'm glad I got him up
it was either a) wake him to try and keep him on his sleep cycle or b) run the risk of him waking when he usually doesn't wake.... I'm giving "a" a try....if it doesn't work then I guess I have my answer for next time!!
Thanks ladies!
I hope he woke up for you!! That's pretty frustrating that he won't go to bed earlier...I'm sure it will change with time though...
And then next time the right answer will change, right? Isn't it always a fun guessing game???
LOL!! Seriously Laura!!!
