I'm guessing just regular point-and-shoot?
What's more important to you in a P&S camera... Compactness or zoom? There are other trade-offs, but those are typically your biggest ones. The smallest point-and-shoots usually max out at 3x optical zoom. But if size isn't super important, then you can get higher zooms - 5x to 10x optical.
For what you want 3x might be perfect, it just depends on what you're looking for.
