Anybody have a creme brulee recipe?

I forgot to add in the gift post that DH and I got ramekins and a torch to make creme brulee (ignore any misspelled words in that sentence).  DH loves creme brulee and I've never made it before.  Anyone have a good, easy recipe?

I wish. Dh says he can make it. We have the ramekins and torch but have yet to make any creme brulee. Sorry I couldn't be of help, but I'm hoping someone is so I can use it too =D

  • D makes one that is out of this world.  I can get the recipe for you later tonight if you would like.

Yes please!  If it calls for a vanilla bean, can you ask him where in the grocery store (Harris Teeter or Fresh Market) I might find one?  Or please share if you know the answer to that question!  Most of the recipes I've seen online call for a vanilla bean and I've never purchased one before.

  • You can find them in the regular spice/seasoning section in the bottles.  There will only be maybe one or two beans in the bottle but they have them.

Also dont be surprised if they are charging between $9-15 for 1-2 beans! Vanilla beans are crazy town expensive!

I've made it once before in culinary class...We had to stand in a walk in fridge and beat it like crazy...So if you have metal mixing bowls, and depending on the recipe, maybe chill the bowls before hand? Just depends on the recipe though. ;)
