Help me choose a handbag :D

Let's say you have about $260 (give or take a few bucks)  to blow on a hand bag. What bag would you buy? I'm feeling overwhelmed a bit by all the choices. (That and I don't know anything about fancy handbags.)

Ugh I have expensive taste in handbags ... My mom gets so many on ebay that I don't even know what retail is on a lot of these brands.  I'm fairly traditional though so you might not like the same as me.  Love BE & D, Marc Jacobs, Ferragamo, Tods, Michael Kors (what I'm currently carrying), andKooba.

 

There are some Steve Maddens in that range.

I am pretty simple/conservative/traditional and found a brown leather bag at the Coach Outlet (not that Coach is "designer" or anything).  It doesn't have any logos, the size is perfect and it was $250 for the purse and wallet.  Just a thought.

I would agree with pp. With that price range, you can't go wrong with a Michael Kors (his store is SCP is having a sale), Marc Jacobs (I got one on sale at Nordstroms), or Coach (I got my mom one at Macys on sale). Any of them are good for everyday

I'd just call the closest Nordstrom and have them find what store has it in the color you like in stock if you want to see it first. It looks like online is out of the darkest color which is my fave, but I'm sure it's in store somewhere. Gotta love Nordstrom customer service!

I like M by MJ bags if you have to stick with macys.  I really like the turnlock Marc bag that Kelli posted.

I honestly think there is a huge difference between online shopping and seeing them in person.  There were some bags on websites that I never gave a second glance, but in person they were REALLY nice, and vice versa.  The one Kelli posted is really soft and smooth.  But I think it's a lot more than $260, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, the cream color is on sale for $280 but I was just throwing it out there as an example since I didn't know where your exchange will be taking place. If you can get a full cash refund, you can stretch it out a lot further with a Nordstroms Rack trip since they usually move their "clearance" bags over there pretty quickly. I've had great luck picking up MJ, MBMJ, and others there for about 40-50% off for daily use colors.

I agree with the others, though, that I wouldn't order online without feeling the bag. There are very few brands I purchase online because the texture/feel/weight of the bag varies so much.

Sorry, I'm no help.  I've been using the same Harvey's purse for a couple of years now.  It's durable so I'll probably be using it for years,  ha ha!

Cole Haan and Furla are in the $260-ish price range.   I have seen Botkiers go on sale at Nordstrom in the $275-300 range too. 

A few PPs have mentioned Marc by Marc Jacobs turnlock bags, and I found those bags to be really heavy.  So, I would recommend seeing the bags in person vs. ordering online.

J, They really are phenominal quiality. The leather is sooo supple.  The one I'm returning is B Makowski also it's just a little too wild for me. But I'd like to get something as high quality if I can or another B Makowski.   We'll see.

 I was at Macy's scoping this one out ytesterday but they were all out of the black and brown.
