Biting the bullet....

Alright, so I had my c-section aver 3 months ago and I am still having pain around my incision site.  My skin is tender to the touch and it sometimes will hurt when I am just sitting.  I also have a very physical job and I work 4 days a week, but it hurts even on the days I don't work....almost daily in fact.  So I finally decided that enough was enough and called the OB and made an appt.  I'm not sure what they will be able to tell me, but I don't feel like I should still be having pain......what do you think??

Re: Biting the bullet....

  • It does not seem normal to me (but this is based STRICTLY on what i've heard.... ive never had a c-section) that you are still feeling pain.  I am glad that you made an appointment with your DR's office.  I hope everything is ok :-).  Let us know!

  • Yeah, I'd say that pain isn't a good thing, so you are probably right to call them...I know Jeanette is still in a lot of pain...

That's part of what prompted my call......

  • Eek. ?I know that SOME pain and tenderness is normal and can last up to a year or more, from what I've been told. ?My pain level has been pretty bad, which is how they discovered the entrapped nerve. ?I've been getting weekly nerve block injections and if that doesn't work, surgery is the next step.

I'm glad you're at least going in to get checked. ?I really hope you don't have to deal with this much longer! ?Feel better, and let us know how it goes!?

  • Hmmm I have heard exactly what Jeanette said about the pain for one year, however, I am still open and I have no pain at all, so that makes me think hmmm maybe it isn't good...glad you are having it checked!  Good Luck!
  • I didn't have a c-section, but I have had 3 abdominal surgeries.  I had quite a bit of pain for months.  My last surgery was 5.5 years ago & I still have tenderness, numbness & some pain.  It is pretty typical.   But, if you are at all concerned then definitely ask your Dr!
  • I think that any pain you're having, especially related to surgery, should be checked out by a dr.  Some people have far more tolerance than others (my husband, for example, would likely ignore it) but I think you've made a good decision in going to see your OB, even if nothing turns out to be wrong.  It certainly won't cause harm to go.  I had a c-section and while I've had no problems, I can tell you that my skin is still tingly there.  I think that part of it is normal.  But as for pain, I don't have any at all.  However, a friend of mine who also had a section 3 days before me, is still bothered by her incision.  I don't think she's having pain as you're describing but her incision bothers her a lot.  Good luck - hope you get some kind of answer or solution.
  • I don't have any experience with csections but wanted to say I hope you feel better.
