Weird wedding gifts?

I am just finishing up writing thank you notes for wedding gifts, and I have opened up a rather interesting gift.

A friend's folks embroidered DH and my names on two, um, slightly used pillowcases.

Anyone else get anything awful? I appreciate that they thought of us though!

Re: Weird wedding gifts?

  • Ha!  That's awesome. Keep those to laugh at in years to come :)

We didn't get any random gifts, but my sister did receive a heart-shaped picnic basket.  Which is soooo not my sister's thing...

  • We got a very ornate trashcan.  I'm talking, this thing weighs about 30 pounds, but it's only one of those little things you'd put in your bathroom or something (well, not mine as it is hideous, but size-wise).  It's got fleur-de-lis on the corners, which is a hazard.  I think it's made out of ceramic or something.  It's insane.  And then, for good measure, I guess, they threw in 2 of those marble balls that people use in decorating.  I think they thought our wedding was a white elephant game.
  • I got a fat check... that bounced like a rubber ball... Confused

  • My great aunt got us this hideous dolls... They look like old people (white, hair, glasses, wrinkles, no teeth), and are EXTREME country decor. They look like something you'd buy at a small town craft fair for $10.

They were the first wedding gift I opened. I immediately burst out laughing. :D

We also got a wall clock with various birds on it, and it will play bird noises every hour. DH is thinking about taking it to work... he seems to think the people in his office would get a kick out of it. :P
