Hello,
I was hoping someone could recommend a gym that they may like.
I live right near a Peak fitness as well as Anytime Fitness. Any thoughts on if one is better than the other?
Thanks
Re: GYM
I think Peak is bigger, but I've heard a lot of good thins about Anytime Fitness. My dad has been going to the one near Cherrydale for about a year and a half and seems to like it pretty well. I had a friend who used that one as well and liked it.
I go to Curves...which if you are a hardcore exerciser probably isn't a good choice.
Which Peak are you close to? I go to the one on Laurens Rd (since the one on Pelham closed after much drama).
I like Peak and it's not expensive. It includes all it's classes in the membership fee - so those aren't extra. Has child care available, decent locker rooms...
If you look at the BBB ratings, Peak has an F rating. If you join there - make sure you read your contract and know what you're getting into. I haven't had any problems but I also asked a lot of questions when I signed up.
If you want a personal trainer - the only one at the gym that I would train with is named Elvis (or he can recommend someone). He's at the Laurens Rd gym. Some of the trainers there (who don't technically work directly for Peak) are scum and will rip you off. I've seen it done.
The name of Peak is changing to Z-Max, I think. Peak went bankrupt...and now they've been taken over by this other company. I'm not sure what those changes have in store...
