Weekend Getaway

Can anyway suggest a weekend getaway place (couple hrs away from Lancaster), that my husband and I can go for our birthdays in a couple weeks?

Re: Weekend Getaway

  • I've never been there, but I know that quite a few people like New Hope, PA.
  • We are in the process of working on a weekend getaway which is not too far from us either and we keep going back to the Poconos, there are a lot of nice places to stay there and you can do winter sports, shopping, etc.

  • I haven't been there but my SIL/BIL got us a gift card for the Allenberry resort which does packages.

If I wasn't preggo, I would love to go to the Poconos and go snowboarding...guess another time!

  • In western Maryland the Rocky Gap resort is nice and relaxing.  You could also go to Philly or Baltimore for a more fun weekend.

Opps sorry I didn't notice that when I read your 1st post!  We also looked into Hershey (which is probably a little too close to home for you), sometimes it is nice just to feel like a "visitor" even if it is close to home!

  • We've got lots to do down here in Baltimore!  Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are always fun choices, too, since they have lots of options for different activities (LOVE the Waterfront in Homestead [Pgh] - lots of great shopping & restaurants).

If you're interested in Baltimore-specific things, Stacey or I can give you those ideas.

  • We went here for our honeymoon:

We were able to save $ by only eating out a lunch or dinner and making most of the meals in the kitchen there.  We spent a large amount of time cozied up in the cabin.  It was great!

We also visited the towns of Staunton and Lexington for a day.  Also toured a winery, but seems as that is out for you!

  • Depends on what you like to do. We went to Savage River Lodge in MD which is about 4 hours away. You stay in your own little cabin. http://www.savageriverlodge.com/

There is Gettysburg for history or wineries

VA isn't too far away either
