Cooking question: Mozzarella sticks
Buying stuff at Costco sometimes results in having weird leftovers. I'm making Chicken Parmesan tonight, but I bought the 2-lb block of mozz this time to save some money, and so I'm going to have a ton leftover.
I like to eat appetizers on NYE - I don't have to cook, really, and we all nibble all night. Is there a method for doing homemade mozz sticks? I mean, other than breading them and hoping they don't disintegrate in the fryer?
Re: Cooking question: Mozzarella sticks
How about breadsticks w/ marinara sauce?

This one looks tasty, too.

You could always freeze the leftover mozzarella, too.
i like the string cheese, and then egg-plain bread crumbs-egg-plain bread crumbs. oil must be HOT, and they shouldn't disintegrate.
put the sticks in the fridge for a little while before frying so the coating sets.
hth - i prefer to just go through the white castle's drive thru. they honestly have the best mozz sticks!
It's already been frozen, and it's thawing today, so I'll have to use it up before it goes bad. I wasn't looking to put in so much effort.
Thanks for the double-dipping tip, WZ. We don't have White Castle - and I would probably just pass on the sticks if I didn't have to use this stuff up.
you can also make pizzas, my delicious artichoke spinach dip, garlic bread topped with cheese...
i can't believe that there is actually so much cheese to use up. i'd have eaten it plain!
