what are yours?

Re: Petty Pet Peeves

  • I don't think this qualifies as a pet peeve but right now I'm frustrated with DW.  She'll often have me make phone calls for her (to plumbers, insurance, etc) and gives me detailed instructions of what to ask.  Today she is home with the carpet installers and she has yet to specifically ask them how long the job is going to take! Meanwhile I'm tyring to round up guys to move our furniture when the job is done, which is hard to do when I don't know when the job is supposed to be over! So I guess my pet peeve today is DW telling me exactly how to do things and then not doing them the same way herself.

  • Aw, thanks! I hope I am not the only petty one :-)

    Two-That would bug me too.

    1. I hate when people use the term "coming out" or "out" to describe anything other than coming out of the closet. Announcing on FB that you are pg, moving, got fired etc is NOT coming out.

    2. The gay couple on Modern Family uses the term boyfriend for one another. You have a home and adopted a child together, you are not boyfriends, UGH!

  • one of the docs where I work is going to drive me to drink.

3 days of babysitting (not full days - 8a-3p) is costing us more than 1 full time slot of  preschool. I don't like school being closed.

The mountain of paperwork on my desk is embarassing (I guess that is a pet peeve of myself - since I have to do the data entry to get rid of it!)

  • I have totally weird pet peeves.

Ice fishing....seriously it is surprising how mad it makes me.

Typos - even though I find them occasionally in my own writing

And more in the why-I-am-so-angry-about-this category:  NASA, the space program.  I know - it is weird.

Oh and ANY sort of public nail clipping.  Really?

  • My worst pet peeve is people who stop in walkways or doorways.  Come on!  Just move off to the side to chit chat or take in the sights.
  • I agree with most of those!

Also, people who leave dirty dishes in the community sink at work, people who text/check their phone etc during a meal or conversation, people who don't cover their mouth while sneezing/coughing, people who use incorrect grammar such as "their" instead of "they're."

Wow, I have quite a few!

  • The people I work with leaving one glove in a box and not going to the storeroom to replace the box because " I didn't take the last one" There are no one handed people working here!!!!!

  • People who don't replace the toilet paper roll when it's empty or near empty (namely, my wife)

Incorrect usage of I and me... ex, DW and I went to the park.... The gift was given to DW and me.

People who talk on cell phones in line at the grocery store or in a restaurant.

My neighbors who leave their garbage cans at the end of their driveway for days after pick up

Neighbors who put out their garbage two or three days before garbage day.

  • - DW is the queen of pet peeves. seriously. which in turn is one of my pet peeves, lol. also:

    - whispering in public

    - people who look at you a little too intensely during conversation.  i'm all for appropriate eye contact, but some people don't even blink. you can add close talkers to this group as well.

    - DW arguing with a 3 year old and thinking it'll get her somewhere

    - not using a blinker when turning

    - crooked pictures

    - unprofessionalism in the workplace

  • Incorrect grammar.  DW uses incorrect grammar a lot and I have to stop myself from constantly correcting her.

Typos.  Even though I occasionally make typos, I get annoyed when I read a sentence and every other word is typed wrong.

People not reading/following directions.  DW does this ALL THE TIME and it bugs me to no end.
